Summer Event: The Summer Event was discussed and all were reminded that it will take place on the afternoon of Saturday the 10th of September between 2pm and 5pm. Events to include the following: A puppet show: A Samba band (For which a donation of £20 was agreed appropriate as the organiser has to travel from Weston): A barber Shop Quartet A Coconut Shy Possibly to be organized by Bishop Henderson School: A Tombola: Plant Stall: Face Painting: Cake Stall: Bat the Rat or similar: Parachute Games: Various Races; The details to be finalized at the next meeting. Princess Margaret's: Planning Permission for the above site has now been finalized. There was concern that there may be dust and noise problems but it was accepted at the meeting that these can only be addressed if they materialise. Parking Issues: The parking issues regarding Middle Way and Churchill Way were discussed and Steven advised the meeting that the new proposals had now been published and moved a considerable way towards the full improvements we would have wished to have achieved. Subject to no objections to the alterations proposed the improvements should take place in the forthcoming months. John Miekle asked if the Association could keep the appropriate Deane Councilors advised of progress on this type of issue (if only by letter) because when the dealings are direct with Somerset C.C. they are not made aware of the current status of the situation.. This was agreed AOB: Annual Award: The Association was asked to consider people who should be considered for the annual award. Steve agreed to consult Nick at the Church. A couple of proposals were made but it was agreed that these should be discussed at the next meeting. AGM: Item to be discussed at the next meeting. Accounts: Steven advised that the Association has received a grant of £760 from Somerset C.C. It was agreed that the money should be spent to provide a facility for the area. Ideas raised were a public bench , dog bins or litter bins. Steve mentioned that a resident had raised an issue with the bench outside Orchard House in that it is in need of urgent repair. Steven is trying to reach Chris Mulchay to sort. Debbie advised that the Association had raised £300 to date this year. Newsletter: Rob ran through his proposals for the next Newsletter. These were well received Rob was thanked for his efforts and asked to proceed. Quiz Night: It was agreed that it would not be best to hold the next Quiz Night on the evening of the AGM but to hold one later in the year with a Christmas theme School Catchment Areas Debbie raised the issue of school catchment areas. She advised that there was a concern that the Castle School and Bishop Henderson catchment areas were being changed due to increased building. The Association had no knowledge of this and Alan W offered to check with Alan Paul.
