Carol Services:
The Carol Service and Reading evenings scheduled for the 20th and 22nd at Wilton Church were discussed. The events involve a Candle
Lit Christmas Celebration
A poster advertising the event was distributed, it is available on the Internet site and the people present were encouraged to distribute the
poster in all appropriate places..
Consideration was given to producing posters of A5 size to advertise the two events on an individual basis. However it was difficult to
establish if this could be achieved in the time scales.
All to advise Steve of any way forward on this issue.
The Tuesday event is to start at 6.30 pm and is a service aimed at people of all ages, with the early start hopefully encouraging younger
people to attend..
Carol Hobson will make a reading on behalf of the Association. The Thursday event (whilst all people are very welcome) is scheduled as a
more traditional Carol service. Alan Stoodley and Steven Holmes will make the reading on behalf of the Association. Traditional
refreshments will be provided by the Association.
It was agreed the following items will be provided by members of the Association at the events to facilitate the provision of Mulled Wine and
soft drinks for those attending. The provision of the following will be required:.
12 Bottles of wine - Steve to organise.
12 x cartons each of Orange and Grape juice and some squash - Alan S to provide. Alwyn offered to provided mince pies
(a vegetarian variety ) this was gratefully accepted by the meeting. It was considered to be a very good idea and it was agreed that the
Association would meet the cost.
Use of Orchard House.
Objections have been raised regarding the proposed use of Orchard House. The application was successful despite 60 letters of objection.
It was pointed
out at the meeting that the letters mainly were not objecting on a planning issue and therefore could not be considered. The meeting
accepted that we can only monitor the situation as it evolves.
AOB.
Committee Member issues:
Steven raised the issue of the need for new committee members, particularly in the light of Deborah Westmancoat's personal
circumstances changing which means that she will have less time to spend on the treasurer's role. Debbie has advised that she would
rather not retain the position of Treasurer simply due to other commitments.
Carol offered to consider the position but would (understandably) need to be given a little more information on the involvement before
making a firm commitment.
Quiz Night:
The Quiz night was deemed to have been a good success. It was well attended and raised £100.33 a £10 donation was given to the
Church for there accommodation of the event.
It was agreed that the Quiz nights should continue, the next one being proposed for the 25th February subject to hall availability.
There being no other business the meeting closed at 9.30.
Date of next meeting Tuesday 10th January 8:pm Wilton Church Hall
