The previous minutes were reviewed and agreed, as were the minutes of the A.G.M. Matters Arising: Provision of a BMX Cycle Track type Facility: Richard and Alex attended the meeting to discuss a proposal for the possible provision of a BMX type facility within the area. Richard is a member of the Auto Cycle Union and they would like to establish such a facility to help develop the sport and encourage people of all ages to become involved. Issues raised are as follows: Funding, although this may be available from independent organisations. Health and Safety aspects Security of the Site. Richard agreed to investigate these issues. They explained that to enable the initiative to progress they need to be supported by a local association hence their reasons for approaching the Wilton and Sherford Association. After the gentlemen had delivered their case the Committee voted that they should be affiliated to the Association and were wished the very best in their venture. Easter Event: The Easter Event was discussed and the following activities suggested. 3 Leg Race Obstacle Race Football Easter Egg Hunt Face Painting Bat the Rat Sack Race Pass the Parcel The precise details and responsibilities will be defined at the next meeting. Quiz Night: The next Quiz Night will take place at the Wilton Church Hall at 7:30 on the 4th March Steve Holmes will be the question master and Carol Hobson will officiate over the marking There will be an entrance charge of £1.50 per person, soft drinks (tea coffee etc) will be available (although a courtesy payment would be appreciated) People are welcome to bring there own alcoholic drinks but a charge of 50p will be made. There will be prizes awarded these will be provided by the association. Bench Seat: The provision of the Bench Seat was discussed and after consultation with the local community it was considered the top of Churchill Way would be the most appropriate location. The cost of £502 for its provision, installation and subsequent maintenance by Taunton Deane Council was thought to be very competitive and it was agreed that the project should progress. AOB: Tree Replacement at Batts Park: The Wellingtonia tree felled by lightning at Batts Park should be replaced under the planning act. The occupier is currently contesting this and the Association can only await the outcome of the deliberations. Middleway and Churchill way parking: Signs have now been posted regarding the revised parking arrangements. Given no objections the new arrangements should be in place early in the new financial year. Mr Dawson advised the meeting the he had concerns regarding the cleanness of the road signs in the area and that he had taken photographs to catalogue the problem it was agreed that this issue should be raised with the Highways Authority. Jenny's Ordination: Jenny's ordination as a Priest will take place at Wilton Church on 5th March at 10.30. Alan S will represent the association but of course all are welcome to attend. Affiliation of Badminton Club: A Badminton Club who play at Queens College have expressed an interest in being involved with the Association, they have expressed an interest in the activities within the local area and hence the committee were pleased affiliate them with the Assocation. Newsletter: The draft of the forthcoming newsletter was reviewed and agreed subject to some minor alterations. There being no other business the meeting closed at 9.30 pm.
