Carol Services
Blossom reported that both services were well attended though the second one was busier, all who helped were thanked for their efforts.
Venture Developments
Blossom reported that there had been some movement in as much as the Association had sent in a letter of objection to planning following the discussion at our last meeting. Blossom detailed the content of the letter to the committee. Blossom is going to call and find out when this is due before the committee.
Parish’s Farm:
No further forward as yet and no movement expected until end of January at the earliest
Parking / Middleway
Blossom has received complaints of two near misses at the junction of Middleway and Sherford Road. It was decided that the committee would have a look at the yellow lines and perhaps invite Mr Ian Titcombe of the Highways to come along and re-examine the junction. Blossom will invite the two complainants to write to Ian Titcombe and let the Association have a copy to support our own letter to Mr Titcombe.
Newsletter
Steve advised the committee that Rob Kirby had made it known that he has someone who is willing to deliver the newsletter into Pikes Crescent. Steven also advised that Rob is looking for material for the Newsletter. Steve and Blossom to get together and draft some content for Rob.
AOB
Blossom advised that the Blagdon Village opening was attended by Steve & Blossom. Blossom met and spoke with the MD of Retirement Villages PLC who suggested that at some point in the future it might be useful to meet with residents of the Village to discuss WSCA with them.
Vagrancy
Blossom advised the committee that she had been dealing with two homeless people and one addict that had setup camp on the edge of the golf course. Blossom contacted the authorities and they appear to have dealt with the situation. Whilst it appears that they have now moved on there is a lot of rubbish etc. that needs to be removed from the area. John Meikle suggested calling the Deane’s emergency number to come out and clean it up. Blossom is going to make the call.
Greenfest
Carol Hobson was not at the last meeting of Greenfest but has received the minutes. Carol did give an account of what is planned so far. Carol is going to put something together for the newsletter.
Burton Orchard House
Carol wanted to know if anyone on the committee knew what was happening. No-one seemed to know, John Meikle seemed to think that the property was own by Somerset County Council and suggested that we contact Stephen Martin-Scott to find out and establish its future if possible.
WSCA Contact Number
Steven raised the fact that Blossom had bought a mobile Pay as you go phone for use as the contact number for the Association. The benefit of this is that the number can move with the Chair at the time and provide some continuity to the community. Steven felt that this being the case the Association should meet the cost of the phone and future Top up costs. The committee approved this to go ahead.
There being no other business the meeting ended at 8:45pm.
Next Meeting Tuesday 11th March St Georges Meeting Room 7.30pm
