Newsletter

It was agreed that the Newsletter in its current format should be distributed to the following:-

		Queen's Drive
		Batts Park
		Sherford
		Haines Park
		Wilton Grove

It was estimated that 1,200 copies of the Newsletter would be required and these would be
distributed by members of the Association, each dealing with a designated area.

Crossing at Trull Road/Parkfield Road

The response regarding and additional pedestrian crossing at Trull Road was rather negative from
Taunton Deane Borough Council. The responsibility was passed to the Highway Authority.
Progression on this item was unclear but it was agreed not to let it rest.
It was suggested that a 20 mph special limit would be an enhancement to safety with regard to
the access route to Parkfield School. The Association agreed that this was a very sensible idea.
Steve agreed to consult with the County Engineer.

Barnardo's

Phil was thanked for his involvement in keeping the committee informed of development with
regard to the Barnardo's site. With reference to the meeting with the developers, the feeling of the
Association was mixed. There was a feeling of concern that it might create an insular community
but against that the nature of the occupants was thought to be likely to keep the area stable and
generate income. The output from the developers with regard to the meeting with them was not
available at the time of the meeting.

Wilton Lands

The issue of parking on the grass at Wilton Lands was discussed. It was agreed that the
current arrangements were less than desirable. To further the cause, it was considered that
photographic evidence would be useful.

The dates of the Bowling events have been forthcoming but the Golf ones have not.
Alan will pursue. The dates are essential because it was agreed at the meeting that it would
be very valuable to the cause against the parking on the grass to obtain photographic evidence
of the obstruction and damage it causes. In addition, we will be able to monitor the number of
parking spaces available in the public car park at the time.

Summer Event

The Summer Event was discussed, the venue was a problem, Wilton Land was not an option
due to insurance difficulties. The location chosen was the parkland between Pikes Crescent and
Trull Road. Insurance is an issue but this is not insurmountable, estimates have been obtained.
The estimations are £250 for £5 million cover and £125 for £2 million cover. It was agreed that
the £2 million option would be more than adequate.

Cycle Path adjacent to Churchill Way (Cherry Tree Lane)

The safety aspect of the above with regard to the danger of golf balls was raised.
The Council have been consulted and considered there is no danger to the public. However,
we remained unconvinced and Steve offered to write to the Council asking for a formal risk assessment.

A.O.B.

Parking at Wilton Orchard was the main issue, it causes some congestion but more importantly it is very
dangerous. The irony is that it is thought that it is people who work at the police station are the most to
blame. Phil agreed to talk to the police regarding the subject.

There being no other business the meeting closed at 9.30 pm.
