Easter Fun Day - Haines Park
The following are bullet points of the discussion which took place with regard the Easter Fun Day.
  1. Gareth advised that the license had now been granted for a cost £25. The insurance covered indemnity against all claims between the period of
10am until 12 noon, assuming that the police and Fire Brigade requirements are adhered too.
  1.  No drink or food will be on sale at the event but some drink (squash etc) and snacks such as crisps should be made available for free would be a good
    gesture. Alan S to organise.
  1. Efforts are being made to provide a portable toilet, if this is unsuccessful Jane and Nick have offered their facilities as a fall back
  1. All committee members were asked to attend the event from 9.00am on the morning of the 10th to set up the event and clear the site of litter and
dog excrement etc. prior to the start of the event.
Activities are to be organised by the following people:
  1. Parachute activities -  Gareth
  1. Alwyn to organise the painting activities. This will be painting on paper supported by a canvass type material. Gareth to supply the materials.
  1. Paddling pool filled with sand - Gareth to supply the required materials.
  1. Races - Nick and Jane to organise. Races to consist of Egg and Spoon Race and Sack Race (if sacks are available). Nick will also organise a three
legged race if he can find material for tying of the legs.
  1. Bat the Rat Alan S to organise.

Friends of Vivary / Wilton Lands
  1. The situation regarding the use of Wilton Lands for parking purposes was again discussed. Steve advised the committee that some progress had been
made albeit from an unexpected source
  1. A consultant has been commissioned by the Council to review the general use of Vivary Park and Wilton Lands. A meeting was arranged to discuss
thesituation with the consultant to which some members of the Wilton and Sherford Association attended. Steve gave the meeting a brief synopsis
of the content of the draft consultation document and many of its suggestions pointed to a more disciplined use of the area including an increased
    presence from council representatives.
  1. All in all the document was encouraging but the authorised final document is not scheduled to be available until June of next year. Requests were
made to review the final document before it is authorised to facilitate the option to effect change if possible.
  1. It was agreed that at this stage there was little that could be done to prevent this year’s parking on Wilton Land. We can only monitor the situation to
    see what unfolds.
Sherford Stream - Open Spaces
No further received to date.
Barnardos
There is no further information with regards the social housing issue.
It was thought that it would be sensible for parking on one side of Middleway only during construction work this would ease congestion.
The police will need to be consulted on this and it was agreed to monitor how the situation develops.
Mud on the road was not at present considered a problem but the situation will need to continually reviewed.
Discussion took place with regard access to the development, there seemed to be conflicting views within the council as to the planning
permission requirements for the access to the site. However the group assumed that as the site is clearly going ahead access issues
will be sorted out and will meet all legal requirements.
A.O.B
Sherford Stream - Two streetlights are not working in this area - Alan W offered to attempt to resolve the problem.
Pedestrian crossings on Trull Rd - two are proposed, schools are pressing for one near the entrance to the Civil Service Sports Club.
We would like one at Mount Nebo.It was agreed that we would leave the schools to fight the battle for the one at the CSSC location while
we will continue to campaign for one at Mount Nebo. We will have an opportunity to talk to Councilor’s at the meeting on the 4th May.
Notice Board - The notice boards is now made and ready to be erected. Steve Holmes to talk to Steve Cuthill to ensure no planning
permission is required for its provision. If not we will erect the board near the post box opposite the Vivary Arms. Steve to check if we can
erect or whether the council will insist on carrying out the work The latter would of course incur a cost.
It was agreed that a £30 donation should be made to the person who kindly made the notice board.
NewsLetters - These were handed out at the meeting and the delivery areas for individual committee members agreed. Steve asked
if the letters could be distributed as quickly as possible to give people maximum advice of the forthcoming Easter Fun Day.
There being no other business the meeting finished at 10.00pn.
