1. Apologies:
Pat Ogden
Eileen white
2. Previous Minutes:
The apologies were accepted. The previous minutes were reviewed and agreed subject to the following amendments.
1. Comeytrowe Development: It was requested that any input from the WSCA with regard the proposed future Comeytrowre development should include a specific request for the inclusion of a Scout related facility.
2. It was stated at the meeting the that use of Burton Orchard as a ‘bail hostel’ had been overruled. However it seems unclear as to the actual situation and it was agreed the ‘overrule’ comment in the minutes should be disregarded.
3. Parris Farm update:
This item is still ongoing. All has been removed except the concrete slab which Mr. Parris contends was laid over an existing slab and that it does not need to be removed because of this he contests that the area can now be used for ‘Agricultural Development’. There does appear however to be photographic evidence that there no previous slab existed. Hopefully to bring the situation to a final conclusion the case is due in court on 16th March. We watch with interest.
4. - Parking Issues
No further movement on this issue at present. There is a possibility that improvements may be made at the junction of Sherford Rd. and Middle way but the issue is still under consideration by the appropriate authorities.
5. – Festival of Flowers:
The Festival of Flowers is scheduled to take place on the 20th or 21st June the Association have been approached with a request to help with marshalling, stewarding and possibly a stall relating to flowers. It was suggested at the meeting that Phil Parker should be approached with regard providing a stall/display relating to the history of the area. It was agreed that this item would be further discussed at the next meeting.
6. – Dog Faeces:
No real progress here. The problem is still ongoing. Jenny has been unable to take photographs due to fallen leaves. Taunton Deane have posted notices advising that fines of up to £1000 can be imposed on people responsible for the problem but everyone accepts that policing the situation is difficult. It was agreed that the Association could only continue to monitor the situation and advise the appropriate authorities on our findings.
7. – Work at Wilton Lands:
The work at Wilton Lands was discussed and it is understood that the work being carried out by the old toilet block is to facilitate accommodation of the machines and equipment used by the park ground staff.
At the far end of the park two tennis courts are to be remover due to lack of use however the mini railway is to be extended. The area is overviewed by the Friends of Vivery Park and hence the WSCA has only had a limited input to the changes.
11 – A.O.B
Churchill Way – Bishops House Footpath:
Concerns were again expressed regarding the condition of the lane between Churchill Way and the ‘Bishops House’ the lane is very overgrown and is now subject to ‘fly tipping’ it seems that people also make holes in the hedge to get into the golf course. Possibly legitimate members but they should use the correct access. Having received no reaction from Taunton Deane who feel there is not a problem we can only continue to monitor the situation.
Community Beat Officer:
Nick Stone has now moved away from the area and his place has been taken by Claire Griffiths, it was proposed that Claire should be invited to a future WSCA meeting to get to know us and gain an appreciation of our concerns.
There being no other business the meeting closed at 9.00pm
Date of Next Meeting:
Tuesday 19th May 2009 7.30pm St Georges Meeting Hall
