Previous Minutes – Matters Arrising.
Councilor Allgrove brought us up to speed on the Civil Service Club, Comeytrowe Parish Council has been informed that it is going to go for private development as a sports club and it is believed that Queens College may also be involved in developing part of the fields as well.
Rob raised a point on the Vandalism and informed us that he was aware of a scheme called Parent Patrol whereby a Parent ( on a rota) walks the streets within a community monitoring what the “Local Children” are doing and reporting or dealing with any antisocial behaviour. Councilor Allgrove brought us up to speed with what is happening in Comeytrowe & Galmington with the work that has been done and planned to be done by the newly formed LAT, the Community Policing and the Parish Council and the positive effect it is having on the area.
Easter Event.
The Easter Event was reviewed and hailed as a great success, Steven suggested that the date of the event be moved to either the week before or the week after as the date that we have been using may conflict with arrangements made by residents to be away for Easter. Steve to check out the dates for easter next year and bring them to the next meeting.
Summer Event
The Summer Event is scheduled for September 10th and more ideas were discussed:
Fire Service Visit, Alwyn will write to the Fire Service and invite them along to the event. Steve to email Alwyn with WSCA headed note paper.
Community Policing was to be invited and Steve will talk to Nick Stone regarding this.
TDBC could have a stall and Jean was asked to deal with this and let the committee know if this would be OK.
Pat said that she knew some other charities may be interested in having a stall and Steve said this was fine and asked Pat to let the committee know who would be coming.
Andy said he would check out to see if the puppet show would be available again this year as it was considered to be well received at last years event.
On a separate note, Andy suggested we could hold an “Antiques” evening with food and drink where local residents could bring along and item for valuing and we could have a local valuer attend to select and value items. Steve to contact local valuers for a volunteer Andy agreed to run the evening. This would help with raising funds for the Association.
Parking on Wilton Lands.
The parking on Wilton Lands was discussed. Steve made the committee aware that he would be attending a meeting regarding this and report back to the committee.
AOB.
Mud on the road at Wilton Rd. – This issue was raised again and is an ongoing problem every time we have rain. It may be better to write to the construction company and to the local Councilors to try and sort this problem out.
Quiz Night.
The next Quiz night has been set for the 10th June. All welcome
New Letter.
Steve advised that the next newsletter was die and that this should be distributed in time for the Quiz night so we could get as much publicity as possible and hopefully increase the attendance.
Tree in Batts Park
Steven advised the committee that the inspector had found in favour of the TDBC and that the missing Wellingtonia should be replaced over the Autumn / Winter of 2006. Rob was congratulated on the time and efforts spent on securing this for the Community and that Robs involvement knowledge certainly had an impact on the result being achieved. Well done Rob ! Steve to let Rob have a copy of the Inspectors report.
Steve asked the committee to consider the future purchasing of a mobile skittle alley that could be used for our events or rented out to other groups as a source of income. Steven also asked Coucilor Allgrove who to contact to help to try and fund such a purchase.
Date and Time of Next Meeting Tuesday 6th June 8pm
