He was specifically attending to discuss the situation at Pikes Crescent / Haines Park. He advised that he had made several visits to the site and that on those occasions he had observed no significant problems. He accepted however that no doubt some problems do exist and he will continue with his visits. If Problems are observed PC Griggs asked to be contacted via the main Police Station number of 337911. A message can be left on his voice mail if he is not on duty or if it is of an urgent matter then any available officer would assist. PC Griggs was thanked for his valuable time. Events Next Year - Haines Park and other ideas. Volunteers and Ideas for an Easter Event were discussed. An "Easter Egg Chase" type of event was suggested and Jane, Gareth and Alan agreed to meet in the New Year to decide a way forward. Friends of Vivary / Wilton Lands It was reported at the meeting that the Flower Show had requested use of Wilton Lands for parking for the Flower Show for the 2004 event. This was received with dismay as the Association has campaigned to prevent parking there and has stated that this kind of request is exactly what would happen. The Bowls Club was considered to have complied with the terms of their license but with the Golf Club it was not. It was agreed that the Association would keep pressure on the Council to seek alternatives and to try to evolve a satisfactory solution. It was also pointed out at the meeting that Britain in Bloom competition embraces all areas of the park and that allowing parking on the park could jeopardise Taunton's efforts. Barnardos Plans to be submitted shortly. It was suggested that the WSCA should meet with the planners to discuss. The listed state of Blagdon Lodge was not available at the time of the meeting but should be available shortly. Mrs Lindley expressed concerns over high rise buildings overlooking existing properties. It was agreed that this was an issue but that the situation was unclear, hopefully the now imminent plans would reveal the extent of the problem. Alan Weddercopp offered to talk to the Council and Developers to check that procedures are in place to ensure problems are avoided with regard mud on the roads. Cycle Path Cherry Tree Lane Concerns are still being expressed regarding the safety in the lane due to wayward golf balls. However the Council have carried out a risk assessment which deems the lane to be safe. It was agreed that the Association could only monitor the situation. It was noted that a rustic fence has now been erected along the lane. Crossing Trull Rd PC Griggs was advised on observations regarding speeding on Trull road but had no knowledge of action at this stage. Wilton Orchard Parking. The £1.70 per day parking charge has caused under usage of this parking facility and has increased the parking problems elsewhere and compounded already problem areas. Phil offered to write to John Lewis who is in overall charge of parking. Community Map Community Map to be positioned at Hammets Walk. Efforts to be made for it's provision before the next AGM if possible. Phil's Rambles On hold until the Spring. Members were asked to consider their thoughts. Sherford Road Traffic Andy advised that the problems have abated of late. Andy will monitor and advise if problems are ongoing. Sherford Stream - Open Spaces The Owner of the Overgrown area has been Identified and contacted with the Help of Dr. Kirby a resident of Queens Drive. After much discussion it was generally felt that to open up and improve this particular area might cause more problems than it would solve. This particular part of the idea has been put on hold. Newsletter It was agreed that the Newsletter should be produced quarterly basis. Delivery methods to be looked into but current system of members and volunteers would continue. More help required and the issue should be raised at the AGM. Being no other business the meeting closed at 9.30pm. Date of AGM Monday 24th November 2003 Wilton Church Hall.
