General Review of Summer Events:
The Summer Event at Hains Park, the Quiz Night and the Public Meeting were reviewed.
Regretfully it was considered that the events had been rather poorly attended.
With regard the Summer Event it was thought that many activities had been provided and the attendance of the Police and Fire Brigade was greatly appreciated, however despite a large amount of effort advertising the event numbers were down. It was suggested that a general review of how to run the event should take place before the next one to consider how to generate more participation.
The meeting was advised that the event raised around £80.
The Quiz Night was attended by only 5 teams (which was a little disappointing number wise) however the evening was well enjoyed. It was thought that another such event should be held in early December (provisionally the 9th). There was some thought that being close to Christmas may limit numbers due to peoples other commitments. However if the event does take place it was suggested that the provision of mulled wine, mince pies etc. would give a Christmas feel to the event which in turn would encourage people to attend.
The Public Meeting was extremely well presented by the Police Authority representatives but again the turn out was a little disappointing. It was stressed however that the volume of crime in the Associations area was relatively small and this may have reduced public interest. However it was stressed that it is important to keep the crimes levels low.
Assistant Chief Constable Steven Mortimer and Beat Officer PC Nick Stone were thanked for there attendance, input and iinterest.
AGM:
The meeting was advised that the AGM is scheduled for the 9th October.
Considerable discussion took place with regard replacing Steve who is retiring as Chairman however there is no obvious replacement Chairman emerging. Various options were discussed included a shared chair option, whilst this was not the preferred option it may well be a way forward to ensure the continued existence of the Association.
Any Other Business:
Christmas Events:
Wilton Church Christmas events were discussed, these are scheduled to take place at the church on Sunday 17th December at 6.00pm (the timing to help encourage children to attend) and Thursday 21st at 7.00pm. The services will be addressed by members of the Association, either Steve, Carol, Alan S or Andy the exact itinery to be decided later.
The service will be followed by a gathering in the Church Hall where mulled wine, fruit punch, mince pies etc will be provided by the Association.
John Dawson offered to provide glasses for the event, it was thought that approximately 120 would be required for each event.
Alwyn offered to supply the table decorations.
Community Award:
This year’s community award generated considerable discussion at the end of which it was decided that Lynne and Phil Parker would be worthy recipients to reward their activities within the community.
Alan S to organize updating of the certificate.
